3D Archery Trail

Take your bow and arrow skills to the next level and venture through the forest to locate 10 various targets ranging from beavers to bears, watch out for that zombie at the end!! Points are awarded based on your shots accuracy to hit within the scoring area of the target. Just like the real thing, you only get one shot so make it count.

Barnaby Ridge Hike Trail

This exciting opportunity takes you up into the mountains to experience the raw beauty of three alpine lakes, magnificent views, awesome ridge walks and a challenging hike along scree slopes. Whether you decide to stay the night and explore the lakes or just do a day hike to admire the views, this trail is an epic adventure!

Bouldering is an exciting way to try and test rock climbing. Participants can learn different rock climbing holds, technique for climbing, and gain basic physical training in an easy environment.

Carbondale Hike Trail

A short but visually stunning hike that leads hikers up 457m elevation gain along 4kms (making it an 8 km round trip). Once at the top you’ll enjoy a 360-degree view of the Castle Crown Wilderness and the Fire Look-out base station.

*NOTE: this is an active fire look-out station so please be respectful of the fire wardens space and living accommodations and ask before exploring the premises.*

Compass (Circle) Trail

Navigation is a key element to travel in the wilderness. Knowing the basics of how a compass works and how to take a bearing are important factors when trying to find your way. Come and learn the basics to compassing while enjoying a fun and challenging game. The Circle game will have you searching for letter marked posts in an obstacle free field, giving you lots of room to try your new skills without interruption.

Compass (Line) Trail

This course can help enhance your compassing skills a bit further or offer a fun new challenge to those that have used a compass before. The Compass Line game has participants start at one point along a rope line stretched 100 feet and then use specific bearings to walk out into the woods and find their way back to a specific end point.

Double Zipline Trail

High Ropes – Arial Leap Trail

Face your fear of heights in the forests of Camp Impeesa! It’s as easy as climbing up a tree 40 feet, standing on a small platform and jumping off! Safely secured to a double M-style belay system, push your fear aside and take a leap of faith and try to grab the trapeze bar in front of you! This activity is sure to get your adrenaline going and your heart pumping.

Team work is the name of the game at the Portable Perch. Using 8 support ropes attached to the perch, you will work together to haul up and hold a beam with a small platform in place. Keep it steady while a member of your team attempts to climb to the top and if lucky enough, stand on the platform at the top.

Orienteering Trail

Orienteering is the challenge of navigation using a detailed map to pick and then follow the best route from one control marker to the next. Explore Camp Impeesa from top to bottom with this exciting course that will have you walking through forest and trails to locate as many of the control markers placed around the camp. Pioneering Trail

After you have mastered the skills of knots and lashings, you’re ready for Pioneering. Taking the basics you learned in Knots and Lashings, you will now put them to practice as you build structures and create exciting scout crafts. You could build anything from a simple bench or stretcher, to a fort or a swing! The options are limitless, so plan something challenging to involve your entire group.

Pond Hike Trail

Get out, get dirty and explore invertebrate, amphibians, aquatic vegetation, waterfowl and more! The fun starts on a short hike on the Blue Trail through the forests of Impeesa, out to our grand pond. There you can catch all sorts of exciting species, bird watch, identify plants
and maybe even see a Moose!

Rappelling Trail

A step-up from climbing, Rappelling puts the control of the decent in your hands. Climb to the top of the climbing tower and begin your way back to the ground with the rappelling device in your control! Always still attached to a second certified instructor on belay, rappelling gives you the opportunity to take responsibility for your decent in a safe and controlled environment.

Table Mountain Hike Trail

See Camp Impeesa like you’ve never seen it before. From 700 metres up, let your eyes soak in the beautiful views that over-look Pincher Creek and surrounding areas. A 10km hike takes you through various terrain and eco-zones, starting in montane forest through sub-alpine to alpine meadow. This steep hike offers a great challenge to hikers of all ages.

Whistler Hike Trail

Take this 8.8 km hike and scramble to reach new views with a total elevation of 2204m. Options for a shorter hike up to the old remnants of the Whistler Fire Lookout and summit of Whistler Mountain exist here. Looking for something more? Try the full day alpine traverse along the horseshoe to Table Mountain summit and plateau. Located in the Castle Wilderness, Barnaby Ridge, Castle Mountain and Jutland Mountain can be seen as you ascend and gain the ridge. Offering varying landscapes changes and levels of challenge for all abilities, this hike is an experience you don’t want to pass up!

Skill: Whistler to Table Mountain Traverse

Location: Turn right before Beaver Mines campground at Junction no.7, then left turn onto South Castle River access Road. Trailhead is at 5.5 km from the turn off at the Beaver Mines Lake Road. Watch for a pull out parking area on the left and the trail rising up a steep slope.
